You hear the term green building a lot nowadays. We hear it daily, but around BuildIQ we think of it as whole-house, high-performance homebuilding. We share this philosophy with our sister company, IBACOS, who conducts research as part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Building America Program to help builders go green, or build for higher performance. Those in the know will tell you that there are a lot of factors that make a home green – from sustainable site development to materials selection and from energy efficiency to indoor air quality. It’s not practical for you as a homebuilder, especially if you’re building at the production level, to change all of these aspects of your building process overnight.
